I think the “About” part of blogs is a little like being asked “What do YOU do?” when meeting someone new.  My brain goes blank and I “um” my way through a really lame version of “stay at home mom”.  That part is true, it just doesn’t seem to describe what or who I am, really.

My family and I made the move to Lodi,  CA two years ago and life hasn’t stopped for one single second.  I have a six year old son with various disorders and has been dealing with Generalized  Epilepsy, which manifests itself as absence and drop seizures.  He is truly one of the funniest children on the face of the planet.

I don’t have a job that I get paid to do and I’ve recently reconciled myself to the idea that I’m so lucky to be a stay at home mom and the fact that while I hate housework and laundry, there is nowhere else I want to be for now.  The church I attend has decided to let me play outside with plants and trees and power tools and my love of being outside gets to be combined with beating back years of overgrowth and neglect.

I am passionate about music, reading, running, my family, learning to love God with all my heart, mind, soul, and strength, and attempting to live life well and with joy even though I suffer from post-chemotherapy neuropathy.  That means my body hurts a lot.

I love Jesus.  I drink beer.  I swear.  I have a tattoo and I’m thinking about getting another one.  Overall, I love my life.

My new motto:  Life is always darkest before dawn, which is when I start laughing at the dark.

  1. You don’t know me. I’m a Colorado Springs resident stay-at-home-mom who does so much more than, “stay home”. Your blog is beautiful. I hope it’s okay, I used one of your pictures on facebook. If not, let me know and I’ll pull it off. http://facebook.com/theroad/

Love your blog! May I have permission to post a small portion of your about page, including a link to your blog on my blog ? It’s entitled Growing and Living with Epilepsy, and on it I have a page called “Your Page” where I feature stories of others whose lives have been touched by Epilepsy or other brain disorders. Btw, I am a stay at home mom who has had epilepsy for 36 yrs. The link to my blog is http://free22545.wordpress.com

    • Hi, Joy! Oh, wow! I am really honored that you would want to include me on your blog. You absolutely have my permission. I am at a point in time where I really need to hear success stories from people who live with epilepsy, so I will be sure to check out your blog. Thank you!
